In January 2018 the Sophiensäle in Berlin will be the venue for the 27th edition of Berliner Tanztage, a festival of contemporary dance. Transnational cooperation between up-and-coming choreographers and dancers is the artistic work’s focus. A variety of dance and music performances as well as projects will be offered to the audience. Mozart Week 2018 – New Perspectives on the Genius’s Work Experiencing innovative interpretations and discovering new perspectives on Mozart’s musical masterpieces: the Mozart Week 2018 offers a rich variety of concerts and performances illustrating the diversity of the world-famous Austrian composer’s opus. In 2018 the week commences with a new production of Entführung aus dem Serail under musical direction of René Jacobs and stage direction of Andrea Moses. The program further offers concerts by the orchestra Wiener Philharmoniker and renowned pianists such as Daniel Barenboim, András Schiff, Robert Levin or Piotr Anderszewski, as well as performances by soprano singer Marlis Peterson or the Schuhmann Quartett. Valletta Film Festival | June 16 – 25, 2018 | Valletta, Malta
VALLETTA FILM FESTIVAL Every year in June the Valletta Film Festival transforms Valletta into a city-sized cinema, including venues like Embassy Cinemas, St. James Cavalier, Pjazza San Ġorġ, Pjazza Teatru Rjal and Fort St. Elmo. Organised by the Film Grain Foundation, the Valletta Film Festival is Malta’s largest film event with over 40 feature films and 25 short films screened at various venues around the capital city. Free screenings are held at Valletta’s Pjazza San Ġorġ, while masterclasses, conferences and debates about various subjects concerning our society, culture and other contemporary affairs are held during the event making the festival a live and communal affair. CONTEMPORARY INSTALLATION ART BY TIM ETCHELLS The programm of Leeuwarden 2018 gives artist Tim Etchells the opportunity to present his latest installation to the public. By the means of neon letters, ringing telephones and personal messages he has created a space-filling installation that deals with the prevalent topic of his works: language.
